Confirmed past author guests on the online club include Mike Gayle, David Nicholls, Jessie Burton, Claire Douglas, Joanna Glenn. That’s a deliberate spread: Gayle (warm commercial men’s fiction with heart), Nicholls (the gold standard for warm-witty-British), Burton (literary historical), Douglas (domestic psychological thriller), Glenn (literary contemporary). Translation: she programmes commercial fiction with craft, and audiences who’ll happily read across romcom, book-club fiction, gentle thriller, and literary contemporary in the same year. She is exactly the right shelf for Lisa Doyle.

Internal notes:
The Book Taster began way back in 2019, when I was juggling motherhood, working as a Primary School Teacher, devouring books at a rate of knots and keen to find my bookish tribe! I originally set up The Book Taster when I was unable to find a one-off bookish gift box for a friend who needed a little ‘pick me up’. I then curated my friend her my own box which was warmly received. Repeating this a few times and not only enjoying the process but how the gift went down- the orginal idea of ‘The Book Taster’ was born. Unfortunately, I had to make the difficult decison to stop selling the boxes in 2023. However – I had a lot to keep me busy …

An advocate of self-care for all, during lockdown in 2020, I started the ONLINE BOOK CLUB which will soon celebrate its 50th month. We have had some incredible authors including: Mike Gayle, Jessie Burton, Claire Douglas, Joanna Glenn, David Nicholls and many more!

Moving away from isolated online actvities – in 2022 I set up the first Book and Pudding Club in Lighthorne, Warwickshire. I wanted to bring a piece of the online community into an in person book club – with pudding of course! Now two years later, there are twenty one book clubs across the country with more in the pipelines!

I run the company from my home in the Midlands which I share with my partner, two children, a black lab called Lola and far too many books!
