Editorially led publicity and visibility for independent fiction authors.

Good books deserve more than a few launch-week posts and a hopeful tweet.

ABC Book Marketing helps independent fiction authors, small presses and hybrid-published writers prepare properly, position their books clearly and build credible visibility before, during and after publication.

Who we work with

We work with authors who want honest advice, practical planning and thoughtful outreach. No bestseller promises. No guaranteed coverage. No vague “exposure” packages. Just sharper positioning, better materials, realistic strategy and campaigns built around the book you have actually written.

Book marketing starts earlier than most authors think

By the time your book is available to buy, many of the best opportunities have already opened and closed.

Reviewers, booksellers, podcasts, festivals, bloggers and long-lead media all need time. They also need a professional book, a clear pitch and a reason to care. A rushed proof, unfinished metadata and a last-minute launch plan make everything harder.

That is why we work across three stages:

  • Before publication, when the book needs to be made visible, credible and easy to pitch.
  • Around publication, when the campaign needs focus, rhythm and follow-through.
  • After publication, when most authors stop too soon and assume the launch has failed.

What we help with

We can help you understand whether your book is ready for publicity, sharpen your positioning, improve your metadata, plan your ARC and reviewer strategy, prepare a press kit, build a bookseller-ready information sheet, relaunch an existing title or run a bespoke publicity campaign.

Some authors come to us six months before publication and need a full plan. Some arrive with a finished book and no idea where to start. Others have already published and want to understand what can still be done.

The right answer depends on the book, the timing, the budget and the audience.

Every book marketing campaign is shaped around the book. But most of what we do falls into four areas.

Positioning

Finding the sharpest way to describe your book – in a line, in a pitch, in a press quote, in an interview. The difference between “another novel” and “the one people want to read next.”

Visibility

Getting the book seen in the right places, by the right readers, at the right moments. Discoverability across retailers, editorial coverage, listings, and the quieter channels that often matter more than the loud ones.

Outreach

Warm, well-pitched approaches to reviewers, podcasts, journalists, booksellers, and the people whose attention genuinely shifts how a book lands.

Campaign coordination

Pulling the moving parts of a launch or relaunch into one calm plan – so things happen on time, in the right order, and don’t collapse into a last-minute scramble.

Who we work with

We are a good fit for independent fiction authors who have invested properly in editing, cover design and production.

We also work with small presses that need extra publicity thinking around selected titles, especially when internal teams are stretched.

We are probably not the right fit if your manuscript is unfinished, your cover is not final, or you are looking for guaranteed reviews, national press or sales.

Honesty saves everyone money.

Start with a free Launch Visibility Audit

If you are not sure what your book needs, start with the free audit.

We will take a practical look at your book, your timeline and your current visibility, then tell you where the gaps are. It is not a full marketing plan, but it will help you understand whether you are ready for publicity, whether you need preparation first, or whether your money would be better spent elsewhere for now.

How we think about a book marketing campaign

A few things we believe, and that shape every campaign we take on.

A book is not a template

Every launch gets shaped around the book’s specific strengths and the readers most likely to care. We don’t run the same campaign twice.

Fewer, better placements

One well-placed review in the right outlet usually does more than ten scattered mentions. We pitch where it actually matters.

Momentum is earned, not bought

Paid promotion has its place, but it doesn’t substitute for editorial coverage, reviewer relationships, and the slower work of finding a book’s real audience.

Transparency throughout

You see what we’re pitching, where, and what’s coming back. No mystery, no inflated reports.

If your book is ready

If your book is finished and you’re ready for a campaign that treats it properly, we’d like to hear from you. We take on a small number of authors at a time, and we read every application ourselves.
