Hi James,
A local one for the mid-morning show. Mo Fanning grew up in Stourbridge and the Black Country keeps turning up in his writing. His new comic novel, Lisa Doyle is Absolutely Fine, is out on 18 June. It’s about a woman who drunkenly announces her engagement on Instagram, then has to invent a fiancé to survive her best friend’s wedding. For fans of Mhairi McFarlane and Marian Keyes.
He’s good company on air, and happy to come into the Mailbox or chat down the line during publication week. Things he can talk about:
- Growing up in Stourbridge, and why the Black Country shapes his books
- Writing romantic comedy as a gay man, with a piece running in The Bookseller’s LGBTQ+ June edition
- The romance boom: the genre’s having a record year in the UK and the British Book Awards added a romance category for the first time [worth double-checking the exact figure before you send]
- One of his earlier novels was an Arts Council Book of the Year nominee
Flexible on timing. Happy to send a review copy or set up a quick call. Let me know if useful.
Best, Adrian Bedford ABC Book Marketing 07881 925376
