Hi Sophie
For your June diary – novelist Mo Fanning (five books, Arts Council Book of the Year nominee) is a panellist at Queer the Shelves at Nottingham Central Library on Saturday 27 June.
Mo is talking about writing warm, funny, queer-inclusive commercial fiction. His new romcom Lisa Doyle is Absolutely Fine (out 18 June) has a fake-fiancé premise and comp titles including Mhairi McFarlane and Marian Keyes.
Available for interview ahead of the festival, happy to talk about:
• Writing romcom as a gay man
• Nottingham’s queer cultural scene (Queer the Shelves now in its fourth year)
• Why Pride-month programming matters for literature specifically
• The broader state of British commercial fiction for queer writers
Mo has a piece running in The Bookseller’s LGBTQ+ June Edition.
Let me know if useful – can arrange phone, Zoom or in-person.
Best,
Adrian Bedford
