Subject: Local author available for June interview — heading to a national LGBTQ+ festival, can drop into studio
Hi,
I’m Mo Fanning, a Stourbridge-based novelist, and I’d love to come in for an on-air chat any time between 10 June and 3 July.
Quick context: on 27 June I’m travelling to Nottingham to speak at Queer the Shelves, a national LGBTQ+ book festival, where I’ll be talking about my new novel Lisa Doyle Is Absolutely Fine — a British rom-com with a fake-fiancé premise, out 18 June, just before the festival. It’s my seventh book, and my last novel won the 2025 Page Turner Award for LGBT fiction. I’ve also got a Pride Edition piece running in The Bookseller (the book trade magazine) in June.
Happy to talk about:
• Why the Black Country is an underrated place to be a working author
• Being a Black Country novelist travelling out to a national queer festival in Pride month
• Writing warm, funny rom-com as a gay man in his early sixties
I’m flexible, I read well on air, and I can bring a short extract. Studio drop-in is easy — I’m five minutes up the road — and phone or pre-record also fine.
Cheers,
Mo Fanning
